Safety First: Why Real Christmas Trees Are Prohibited in Our Buildings.

It’s important to keep safety at the forefront of our celebrations.  At Terra Crest we prioritize the well-being of our residents, and this extends to holiday decorations  In the interest of safety, we wanted to remind you that real Christmas trees are prohibited within our buildings.

There’s nothing quite like the aroma and charm of a real Christmas tree, but with beauty comes responsibility.  Real trees can pose various safety risks in multi-unit buildings, including:

Fire Hazard: Dry needles and flammable oils in real trees can into a disastrous incident.  Christmas trees account for hundreds of fires annually.

Allergens: Some residents may be allergic to certain types of trees, and the presence of a real Christmas tree could trigger allergies, causing discomfort and health issues.

Maintenance Challenges: Real trees require constant watering to stay fresh and reduce fire risks.  In a shared living space, the responsibility for maintenance falls on each resident, making it challenging to ensure proper care.

Safe Alternatives for Festive Decorations:

Although real Christmas trees are off the table, there are plenty of safe and festive alternatives to brighten up your living space:

Artificial Trees: Invest in a high-quality artificial Christmas tree that meets safety standards.  These trees look realistic, are fire-resistant, and eliminate the risks associated with live trees.

Flameless Candles: Create a cozy ambiance without the fire hazard by opting for flameless candles. These LED alternatives mimic the warm glow of real candles without the risk of open flames.

Fire-Safe Decorations: Choose fire-resistant or flame-resistant decorations.  Check labels and tags to ensure that your ornaments meet safety standards.

As we enter the holiday season, let’s prioritize the safety and well-being of everyone.  While real Christmas trees are a cherished tradition, the decision to prohibit them within our building is rooted in a commitment to ensuring safety in our buildings.  By embracing safe alternatives, we can ensure a festive and joyous season for all.
